This Privacy Policy explains how Sole Proprietor Markov Oleksandr Ivanovych, doing business as "Mark Digital" ("we", "us", "our"), handles information in connection with the BlockDistraction browser extensions for supported browsers (collectively, the "Extension") and the website https://blockdistraction.com (the "Site").
BlockDistraction is designed with local processing and data minimization as core principles. Blocking rules and browsing activity are not sent to our servers. Some account, licensing, support, payment, website analytics, and optional technical telemetry data may be processed as described below.
This policy also describes rights that may apply under privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA / CPRA).
Blocking rules and settings: Your blocked website rules, redirect rules, schedules, categories, Focus Session settings, whitelist entries, password-related settings, and other extension preferences are processed locally by the Extension. Depending on the setting, some preferences may also be synchronized using your browser's built-in synchronization storage, such as Chrome Sync or an equivalent browser synchronization service. We do not operate or have access to those browser-managed synchronization services.
Browsing activity: BlockDistraction needs access to website addresses in your browser in order to perform its user-facing blocking and redirect functionality. This processing occurs locally. We do not transmit your browsing history, visited website addresses, blocked website addresses, rule contents, redirect URLs, page titles, search queries, or website content to our analytics server.
License verification: When a Pro license is verified, the Extension sends the license key and extension version to our server over HTTPS. The license key is used to identify and verify the associated Pro license and is stored as part of the relevant account and licensing record. Our server and hosting infrastructure may also process normal technical request information such as request time, User-Agent, and IP address for delivery, security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and operational logging. License verification data is used only to determine Pro access and maintain the reliability and security of the licensing system.
BlockDistraction includes optional privacy-preserving technical analytics designed to help us understand whether Extension features work correctly across supported browsers and platforms.
Technical analytics are disabled by default. The Extension does not create or transmit telemetry data until you explicitly enable the "Share technical analytics and error reports" option. You can disable this option at any time in the Extension settings.
When you enable technical analytics, the Extension may collect and send limited technical information such as:
Technical telemetry does not include:
Technical analytics are aggregated locally before transmission. Identical technical errors are combined into counters rather than stored as separate detailed reports.
Queued telemetry data is retained locally for no more than 7 days. After successful delivery, transmitted batches are removed from the local telemetry queue. If you disable technical analytics, locally queued telemetry data and telemetry delivery state are cleared immediately.
Raw anonymous telemetry batches received by our server are currently retained for up to 90 days for reliability analysis. They may then be deleted automatically or converted into longer-term aggregate statistics that do not identify individual users or installations.
Our application telemetry database does not intentionally store IP addresses or User-Agent strings. As with normal HTTPS services, Google Cloud and related network infrastructure may process request metadata, including IP addresses, in infrastructure, security, and operational logs independently of the telemetry records described above.
The Extension can generate a local diagnostic report containing technical state information such as the Extension version, permission state, rule counts, Declarative Net Request status, Focus Session state, and telemetry delivery status.
Generating, copying, or exporting a diagnostic report does not automatically send the report to us. A report remains on your device unless you choose to share it manually, for example when contacting support.
Pro users may enable Debug Mode. Debug Mode can retain a limited local history of structured diagnostic events. This history is stored on the device and is separate from optional technical analytics. Enabling Debug Mode does not automatically enable technical analytics or consent to sending telemetry.
We use information only for purposes connected with providing, maintaining, securing, supporting, and measuring BlockDistraction and its related services.
We use service providers where necessary to operate BlockDistraction and the Site:
These service providers may process information on our behalf according to their respective agreements, privacy policies, and applicable legal requirements.
We do not sell personal information, telemetry data, browsing information, or Extension data to data brokers or advertising platforms.
BlockDistraction is distributed through browser extension marketplaces including the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, and Mozilla Add-ons. We follow the applicable privacy and user data requirements of each distribution platform.
Information handled by the Extension is used only to provide, maintain, secure, support, or measure the performance and reliability of BlockDistraction's disclosed functionality. We do not use or transfer Extension data for personalized advertising, unrelated profiling, creditworthiness, data brokerage, or unrelated market research.
For the Chrome version of BlockDistraction, our use of information received through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
For the Microsoft Edge version of BlockDistraction, our handling of Extension data follows the applicable Microsoft Edge Add-ons privacy and user data requirements.
For the Firefox version of BlockDistraction, our handling and transmission of Extension data follows the applicable Mozilla Add-on Policies and Firefox data collection and consent requirements.
You can manage your subscription, update payment methods, or cancel recurring payments through your BlockDistraction Account Dashboard or the Paddle Customer Portal.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain information about personal data we hold about you.
Where an account deletion request is submitted, certain data may remain temporarily where necessary to preserve paid access through an applicable billing period, complete transactions, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or comply with legal obligations.
Anonymous technical telemetry is intentionally collected without an installation identifier or account identifier. Because received telemetry cannot reasonably be linked back to a specific Extension installation or account, we generally cannot locate an individual anonymous telemetry record in response to an account deletion request.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use BlockDistraction Extension data or technical telemetry for personalized advertising.
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA / CPRA, subject to applicable definitions, limitations, and exceptions. Requests may be submitted to [email protected].
The browser Extension does not use advertising or analytics cookies for its technical telemetry system.
The Site may use cookies or similar browser storage for authentication, account functionality, consent preferences, security, and optional website analytics. Where required by applicable law, optional analytics technologies are used according to your consent choices.
We use HTTPS for data transmitted between the Extension, the Site, and our servers. We apply access controls, server-side validation, rate limiting, data minimization, and other technical measures intended to reduce unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. We therefore limit the information collected and avoid transmitting browsing history, blocked website addresses, rule contents, redirect URLs, passwords, or raw diagnostic stack traces as part of technical analytics.
BlockDistraction is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal information from children for advertising or profiling purposes.
We may update this Privacy Policy as BlockDistraction, the Site, applicable law, distribution platform requirements, or our service providers change.
If an Extension update introduces materially different data collection or handling practices, we will provide a prominent disclosure within the Extension before the new collection begins where required. The updated date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
